Why smallville is the best Superhero tv show of all time!

Sacrifice(The latest episode sets the tone)Welcome to my new superhero blog. I thought I would start out with one of my favorite superhero shows, smallvile. For those of you that don't know, this is a show about Superman, before he put the suit on, or even started flying. The show came out in 2001, and has lasted for an incredible 9 seasons, and just got greenlit for a 10th. Being a long time comics fan, I was elated. You see, I grew up watching old reruns of The adventures of Superman from the 50's (I'm old, but not that old). Those shows were fun, despite the low budget effects, and cheesy dialog. It lasted for 7 seasons and the actor (George Reeves), became a legend to us comic geeks. There were a few other attempts at bringing Superman to the small screen, as well as notable Marvel comics characters such as spider-man,captain america, and The incredible Hulk. The Hulk was Marvel comics most successful t.v run, lasting 4 years, and had great actors in Bill Bixby (David Banner), and Lou Ferrigno as the Green Machine hulkster.Back to smallville. It has a unique quality, in that it only loosely follows the comic canon, and creates a take on the mythology that sets it on its own course. For example, in the comics, Clark Kent doesn't meet Lois Lane until Superman emerges to the world, but in smallville, he meets her while he's still in highschool. There are many other changes, but I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't seen it yet. The great thing about it is, the dvd's give you the chance to catch up on all the action. Season 9 has been exceptionly spectacular. The famous Superman 'S' is being sported in a preliminary form by Clark in his pre-superman persona 'the blur'(also a smallville creation!), and there are numerous guest shots of DC comics characters, such as the legion of superheroes, Justice Society, and a few Justice League and Teen Titans thrown in. The comic geek moments never cease. This is the definitive Kal-el, Superman, don't miss it!
